Finance Minister Henry Musasizi has said the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) is capable of mobilising the patient domestic capital needed to support Uganda's Tenfold Growth Strategy while continuing to safeguard workers' savings.
Musasizi made the remarks during a meeting with the NSSF Board of Directors and Management to review the Fund's performance, operations and contribution to Uganda's long-term economic transformation agenda.
The meeting was led by NSSF Board Chairperson Dr David Ogong and Managing Director Patrick Ayota.
The minister commended the Fund for increasing its assets from Shs26 trillion in June 2025 to Shs32.8 trillion by June 2026. He said NSSF should continue prioritising the safety of members' savings while adjusting its investment strategy to support long-term national development.
"NSSF can mobilise and provide patient domestic capital required to implement Uganda's Tenfold Growth Strategy," Musasizi said.
NSSF Managing Director Patrick Ayota said the Fund has maintained 95% member satisfaction and aims to grow its assets to Shs80 trillion by 2035.
He said the Fund is ready to partner with the government in advancing the transformation agenda through protecting member value, supporting enterprise growth, creating jobs, promoting formalisation and mobilising long-term domestic capital.
Board Chairperson Dr David Ogong said NSSF is already investing in sectors that align with the government's Tenfold Growth Strategy, including agro-processing, tourism, mineral-based development, and science, technology and innovation.
According to the Fund's leadership, government should continue improving the investment environment to create more bankable opportunities for deploying members' savings.
Minister of State for Planning Amos Lugoloobi called for improvements in Uganda's investment ecosystem, saying the Fund is protected by law and should leverage its available resources to contribute to economic growth.
The meeting was also attended by Minister of State for Privatisation and Investment Aminah Mukalazi and Minister of State for General Duties Cissy Mulondo.
