The Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Treasury (PSST) Dr. Ramathan Ggoobi, accompanied by a senior technical team from the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED), visited the International Specialized Hospital of Uganda (ISHU) in Lubowa to assess the progress of construction. During the guided tour, Dr. Ggoobi expressed his satisfaction with the improvements since his last visit and pledged to work closely with the hospital management team to address remaining challenges, including securing a dedicated power line to ensure reliable, uninterrupted hospital operations, enabling it to deliver critical healthcare services reliably.
The International Specialized Hospital of Uganda is a major healthcare initiative aimed at providing advanced diagnostic and treatment services locally, which will reduce the need for Ugandans to travel abroad for specialized medical care. Once completed, the hospital will offer state-of-the-art facilities across multiple specialties, including cardiology, oncology, and neurology, positioning ISHU as a landmark project in Uganda’s healthcare system.
The completion of ISHU is expected to provide highly specialized diagnostic and treatment services in Uganda, reduce patient referrals abroad, save both government and individual healthcare costs, and strengthen the country’s medical infrastructure.
PSST Dr. Ggoobi’s visit underscores the government’s commitment to supporting the construction of the International Specialized Hospital of Uganda, ensuring that once operational, the hospital will improve healthcare access, enhance patient outcomes, and provide advanced specialized services for Ugandans across the country.
